PHILADELPHIA

The Bryn Mawr Film Institute hosted the September 4, 2008 premiere of the feature length documentary The Ordinary Radicals. The film, written and directed by Jamie Moffet/Jamie Moffet Media Design & Production, was co-produced by One Horizon Foundation. Telling the personal and communal stories of a myriad of people from across the United States, as well as addressing issues of grassroots peacemaking and social justice, the film chronicles the emergence of a revolutionary Christianity that is redefining old stereotypes and challenging the current status quo. The sold-out crowd at Bryn Mawr  topped 300, and the producers are currently lining-up independent screenings of the film in 20 cities around the country.

The documentary was filmed as the director and crew followed authors Shane Claiborne (featured in a recent CNN interview) and Chris Haw around the United States on the book tour for their recently released book Jesus for President. In each city and venue where the tour stopped the filmmakers gathered the stories and collected the footage that became The Ordinary Radicals. According to the filmmakers, the fundamental purpose of collecting these stories was to document ordinary people doing ˇ§small things with great love.ˇ¨

ˇ§We are really excited to be involved with this inspiring film,ˇ¨ reports One Horizon Foundation vice-president Bill Kenney. ˇ§It is really a privilege to help make this film happen. There are so many people of faith serving with such vitality and ingenuity around the country, and we really wanted to help get this message out. This film does a great job in that department, and we hope that it can be a building block to helping people rethink the vital role of faith within society.ˇ¨

One Horizon, in conjunction with the Communality faith community, will host a screening of The Ordinary Radicals in Lexington at the Kentucky Theatre on Thursday evening, October 16, 2008 from 7-10pm. The screening will double as a fundraising event for Kentucky Refugee Ministries with all proceeds from ticket sales going to KRM. Tickets are now on sale ($7.50) and can be obtained by contacting the Kentucky Theatre at 859/231-7924 (http://www.kentuckytheater.com/).
